CAIC (former Soros Center for Contemporary Art-Lithuania) in 2000 spun off from the Open Society Fund-Lithuania and now functions as a department within the National Gallery of the Lithuanian Art Museum. Its activities include collecting and disseminating information on Lithuanian contemporary art (artists’ documentation, video archive, library), curating and managing contemporary art projects (exhibitions, conferences), fostering international collaboration. Beside these programs CAIC works on the implementation of the project of modern and contemporary art museum – the National Gallery of Art (to be opened in 2007) – in Vilnius.
